South Australian Blind Bowlers Club Inc.

Overview

During summer season the Club provides lawn bowls games & competitions suitable for all ages and ability.  Every last Sunday of the month, Members train at Salisbury Bowls Club with a qualified coach.  For those who are keen to better themselves at the sport, a pathway is provided to progress from local club to national and international level of competition.  During winter season the Club endevours to keep members interest by providing fortnightly social indoor bowls competitions at the RSB Gilles Plains complex.
Club membership is opened to blind, vision impaired and sighted persons and the classes of membership are player, associate, director (sighted) and official.  Fees are moderate and range from $75 for a player to $20 for an associate member.
At competition level an official eyesight certificate is required that determines whether a player is a B1, B2 or B3  competitor.  For all other unofficial social games any interested person is welcomed.  The game and equipment is the same as sighted clubs except there are provisions for the BVI player such as directors.  Bowls can borrowed on a temporary basis if rerquired but all other equipment and clothing is to be provided by the player.  State representatives purchase playing shirts and jacket.
Excursions to other bowls clubs occur during the season and members are encouraged to join sighted clubs to receive additional coaching and competitive games.
The Club is affiliated with BSSA, Bowls SA and the Australian Blind Bowls Association.
